Home to Roost
Each evening after the winter sun has set, the skies come alive around my cottage. There is a clamour of caw caws in the air as the rooks and jackdaws gather to share tales of their day and to then settle down in their treetop roosts for the night. I love this winter spectacle, which is mirrored in the mornings as the birds awake and depart in a noisy black cloud of feather and purpose.
